UNB, Sangsad :
Urging foreign diplomats to strictly follow the diplomatic norms, Awami League MP Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim on Monday said that otherwise measures will be taken against the errant diplomats.
“I want to tell the foreigners (diplomats), please abide by the diplomatic norms,” he said while speaking in Parliament on the thanksgiving motion on the President’s speech.
Holding meetings with BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is not even in the opposition now, he said: “Who is Khaleda Zia? If you want to hold discussion you’ve to hold it with the
government or with the opposition (in Parliament). If you (diplomats) hold meeting (Khaleda) even after that we’ve to do our job for violating the diplomatic norms.”
Recalling the antagonism of some countries during the Liberation War in 1971, the Awami League lawmaker said the people of Bangladesh liberated the country defying their opposition. “We understand the welfare of the country very well. Don’t poke your nose into the internal affairs of the country.”
In this connection, he categorically said that the interference of the foreigners will not be allowed. “Foreigners are not our masters.”
