Foad Nasser Babu is one of the legendary musicians of the country. He earned fame not only as a musician but also as a music director. Besides composing songs for many noted singers, he also gave direction of music for three movies. After independence, pop music started its journey with the hands of pop legend Azam Khan, Ferdous Wahid, Fakir Alamgir, among others. Foad Nasser Babu started to work with Azam Khan as a base guitarist in 1974. From that time to till date he has been working with music silently for last four eras. In 1977, country’s one of the legendary bands, Feedback started its journey with the hands of Foad Nasser Babu. He started his journey with this band as a key-board player. He arranged music of most popular song of this band Melai Jaire, which lyrics and tunes were composed by Maqsood. For the last four decades as a base guitarist, he has been performing with legendary singer Runa Laila in different stage shows in and outside the country. He also worked as assistant music director of legendary music composer and director late Alauddin Ali for last four decades.
As a full-fledged music director, Babu also worked in Kazi Morshed directed movie Chholona (1989), Belal Ahmed directed Ghor Aamar Ghor (1990), Uzzal directed Paaper Shasti (1996) and lastly in Abu Sayeed’s movie Opekkha. Under his music composition, Syed Abdul Hadi, Sabina Yasmin, Rafiqul Alam, Abida Sultana, Andrew Kishore, Fahmida Nabi, Samina Chowdhury, among others, rendered songs. Debut musical album of Niloy Das, son of noted musician and music researcher Sudhin Das, titled Koto Je Khunjechhi Tomai was also composed by him. This album was released in 1988. By this album Niloy won the hearts of many music lovers. Foad Nasser Babu later also composed Sumona Haque’s popular song Mayabi E Raate, which also got huge popularity among the listeners. Music-lovers are still enjoying hearing this song. Khaleda Edib Chowdhury and Ahmed Yousuf Saber wrote lyrics of the song, while Foad Nasser Babu composed its music. Babu has been engaged with Fedback till now since 1977. He also lent his vocal for two songs of the band. Born on May 31 in 1960 in Kushtia, Foad Nasser Babu will turn into 62 today. He said, “People knows me well, they love me a lot – it is my great achievement. Earlier, I felt sick. With Allah’s blessing I became well. Today is my birthday. Everybody prays for me and for my family.”
