Veteran manager Abel Braga has parted ways with Fluminense after just four months in charge, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Thursday.
The announcement came less than two days after Fluminense were held to a goalless home draw by Argentina’s Union Santa Fe in the Copa Sudamericana group phase.
“Abel Braga and the Fluminense board met this morning with the squad to communicate the decision, by mutual agreement, to follow a new path,” read a statement on the Rio de Janeiro side’s website.
It added that assistant coach Marcao Oliveira would assume the vacant position on an interim basis.
