Flourishing extra-curricular talents of children stressed

Cultural personalities at a function have stressed on flourishing extra-curricular talents of the children and disseminating true national history among them to build an enlightened nation.
They came up with the view at the concluding function of the district level ‘Moushumi Children Competitions-2018’ held recently at Shishu Academy auditorium in Rangpur.
The district unit of Bangladesh Shishu Academy organised the competitions with participation of about 150 children of the primary and secondary level schools from all eight upazilas of the district.
Five groups of children from each of the eight upazilas participated in five categories of the competitions including singing patriotic ‘Jarigan’, regional folk dance, ready debate, preparing wall magazines and knowledge query.
Former General Secretary of the Rangpur district Shilpakala Academy and Office Secretary of district Awami League Tauhidur Rahman Tutul attended the function as the chief guest with District Children Affairs Officer Imran Mian in the chair.
Cultural personality and former Head of the Department of Bengali of Rangpur Begum Rokeya Government College Professor Md Shah Alam adjudged performance of the participants in different categories. Speaking on the occasion, Professor Alam put importance on enhancing extracurricular activities to flourish multi-dimensional latent talents of the school children to make them brilliant citizens. “We have to popularise debate, cultural, literary, sports and other innovative extracurricular activities among the children to build an enlightened and knowledge-based society,” Alam added. The chief guest urged authorities of the educational institutions for frequently arranging extracurricular activities for the school students to develop their multi-talent skills.
The chief guest distributed prizes and certificates among the winners of different events of the children’s competitions.
