Speakers at a training course have said the flourishing dairy sector has been changing rural economy and meeting nutritional demand of the growing population in building a healthier nation.
They stressed for increasing cow milk production through disseminating and popularising the latest dairy technologies among the rural farmers and enhancing marketing facilities to boost the respectful sector in rural areas.
Kawnia Upazila Livestock Department organised the daylong training course on dairy at its hall room under the Integrated Agriculture Productivity Project for strengthening of the dairy value chain.
Twenty small-scale rural female dairy farmers of village Rajib under Kawnia upazila along with milk processors; milkmen, teachers, GO-NGO officials, public representatives and community leaders took part.
With Kawnia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdul Motaleb Sarker in the chair, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Manjit Kumar Sarker and Veterinary Surgeon Dr Al Mamun conducted different sessions of the daylong training course on dairy.
The speakers stressed for coordinated efforts to popularise dairy sector with expanded milk marketing facilities through providing necessary technologies, inputs, inspiring the female dairy farmers and setting up of related industries in rural areas.
They underscored the need for GO-NGO and private sector initiatives and collaboration for increasing expertise of the rural people, milk processors, milkmen and rural livestock physicians in the process of cow milk production, marketing and related hygienic issues.
