Flood situation across the country deteriorated on Friday comparing to previous days, mainly because of water coming from India.
Our correspondents from Jamalpur and Sirajgonj reported worsening of the situation in the districts.
According to Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC), water levels of 54 rivers have marked a rise while 27 stations recorded fall.
Among the 90 monitored water level stations, five river stations reported water level steady while water levels at 16 river stations are flowing above the danger level, according to a bulletin issued by the FFWC on Friday.
The Ghagot at Gaibandha, the Brahmaputra, the Jamuna at Bahadurabad,
Sariakandi, Kazipur and Sirajganj, the Atrai at Baghabari, the Dhaleswari at Elasin, the Padma at Goalundo, the Kobadak, the Surma at Kanaighat, the Kushiyara at Amalshid, Sheola, Sherpur-Sylhet, Deraj and Jariajanjail are
flowing above danger level 43cm, 35cm, 87cm, 58cm, 62cm, 69cm, 23cm, 58cm, 5cm, 5cm, 49cm, 69cm, 65cm,7cm, 1cm and 42cm respectively.
The Brahmaputra-Jamuna and Surma rivers are in steady state while the Ganges-Padma and Kushiyara rivers are in rising trend, said the bulletin.
Significant rainfall was recorded at some stations in different districts during the last 24 hours ending at 6 am today.
A total of 57 millimetres (mm) rainfall was recorded at Noakhali, 53mm at Sylhet, 40mm at Kanaighat and 33mm at Sunamganj.
