Floating vegetable cultivating gaining popularity in Tungipara

At least 1000 farmers including male and female of Tungipara Upazila in Gopalgnaj have been cultivating floating vegetable this rainy season.
According to Tungipara Agriculture Office sources said, about 100 bighas of land have been brought under floating vegetable cultivation. Where production target fixed at 200 metric tonnes (MTs). The farmers are cultivating these crops by a scientific method for more production in a short time.
Farming like lady’s finger, cucumber, pumpkin, radish, puishak, lalshak, carrot, yard long bean, gourd, muskmelon, arun, turmeric etc. Farmers of Bannabari, Mitrodanga, Jualia, Pathargata, Chapail, Gopalpur, Guadana under Tungipara Upazila in Gopalganj district are cultivating this type of vegetables , sources said.
Barandranath Biswas (55), a farmer of village Bannabari under Tungipara upazila said, he cultivated different kinds of vegetables like radish, palk, lalshak, lady’s finger etc. Without chemical fertilizer & pesticides on 15 Nos floating field near his residence an.d he got a good benefit from its production and seven months long can farming on this floating fields not only that, a farmer can three times cultivation on same land, Barandranath said.
Some farmers of Mitradanga village under Tungipara upazila said, they are getting a good earning from those vegetables producing this rainy season.
 The cultivation of floating vegetable in additional earning opportunity for the farmers around the rainy seasons and recent years farmers in our upazila are encouraged on this cultivation.
 Expenditure of cultivation is Tk. 4000 per decimal of land but selling about Tk. 8000 due to favourable weather fair market price recent days farmers in this region are getting a good economical benefit from its production, he added.
