In Fulgazi upazila of Feni, six more villages have been flooded due to rising water level of Muhuri river and hill slope.
Meanwhile, half a kilometer of the Feni-Parashuram regional road in Ghaniamora area of Fulgazi has been inundated under one foot of water. This has temporarily stopped the movement of vehicles.
According to the Water Development Board and local sources, in addition to the two old erosion sites on the Muhuri river flood control dam on Sunday night, another erosion occurred at the Jaipur village dam.
As a result, water is now entering the villages at high speed through these three places. So far, Jaipur, West Ghaniamora, East Ghaniamora and Kismat Ghaniamora, South Daulatpur and North Daulatpur of Fulgazi Sadar Union have been flooded.
Earlier, on August 25, two sites were damaged.
According to Water Development Board, the water level in the Muhuri River was flowing at 1.40 cm above the danger level on Monday morning. On Sunday evening, the water was flowing at 90 cm above the danger level. The water has started to rise slowly.
Fulgazi Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ferdousi Begum said houses crops are being damaged due to the inundation of flood water in the village. There is no alternative to solving the problem without building a strong dam, UNO added.
