Six families live in the two-storey house on the Kabarstan Road in Manikganj Para in Jamgara owned by Abdul Hamid, a local resident.
Arab Ali used to live in a room on the ground floor with his family.
The house caught fire after a blast in the morning, said Ershad Hossain, Fire Service Control Room officer.
