The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court of Feni on Thursday placed three more accused on a five-day remand each in the case filed over killing of Feni madrasa girl Nusrat Jahan Rafi by setting her afire.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Zakir Hossain passed the order yesterday after hearing a remand petition seeking seven days’ remand.
Earlier, police produced accused Emran Hossain Mamun, Mohiuddin Shakil and Iftekhar Hossain Rana in the court with seven days’ remand plea.
Investigation officer and PBI inspector Shah Alam confirmed the matter to the media.
Earlier, two other accused Shahadat Hossain Shamim and Jabed Hossain were again placed on two-day remand.
Nusrat Jahan Rafi, the madrasha girl of Feni’s Sonagazi upazila, was set on fire on April 6, and she succumbed to her burn injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on April 10 night. She was kept on life support at DMCH since April 8.
On April 6, the student went to the examination center at Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa. Later, few men and women under veils, who were reportedly loyal to the principal of the madrasa, took her to the roof of the building where she was set on fire.
Hearing her screaming, locals, students and teachers took her to hospital.
Later, victim’s elder brother filed a case with Sonagazi Model Police Station citing the incident that brought pathetic end of Rafi’life.
The heinous incident occurred days after her mother on March 28 filed a case against madrasa Principal SM Siraj-ud-Doula on charge of harassing the girl sexually on March 27.
GD was lodged against ex-Sonagazi OC
Meanwhile, a counter general diary (GD) was filed against former Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sonagazi Model Police Station Moazzem Hossain over the leakage of a video footage recording the testimony of madrasa girl Nusrat Jahan Rafi from his personal mobile phone.
Atiar Hawlader Sajal, a reporter of Somoy TV engaged in its Feni bureau office, lodged the GD with Sadar Model Police Station of Feni on Thursday afternoon after he came to know about another GD was filed against him by former OC Moazzem on April 14, four days after his withdrawal from Sonagazi.
The former OC lodged the GD accusing the reporter of stealing information from his personal mobile phone.
He had claimed that Atiar stole the video of Nusrat’s testimony from his phone to harass him socially.
However, in his GD, Atiar alleged that Moazzem himself had sent the video to Atiar on April 8 to prove that Nusrat had a tendency to commit suicide before the arson attack.
The OC was withdrawn and attached to the Armed Police Battalion on April 10 as Nusrat’s family members alleged that they were not getting due cooperation from him.
