Staff Reporter :Five persons, including three members of a family, went missing when a trawler after hit by a launch capsized in the river Buriganga in Dikrir Char area under Fatullah Police Station in Narayanganj district on Saturday morning.The missing persons are: Abdul Kadir, 50, Selim Khan, 45, Imran Khan, 15, Moushumi, 16, hailing from Siddhirganj, and Selim Mia, 50, inhabitant of Narayanganj.At least 40 people were rescued from the river in the morning after conducting a rescue operation. Of them, 12 people were admitted to the Narayanganj Sadar Hospital instantly. The rescue operation was postponed last night and it would resume today (Sunday), police said.Narayanganj Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Malek said that the trawler carrying about 45 people sank in the river in Dikrir Char area around 11:30am at the time of returning from a Urs at Radhanagar in Sadar upazila.He said that all but five passengers of the trawler failed to swim ashore. Narayanganj Fire Service’s Deputy Director Din Moni Sharma said that a seven-member diver team was conducting rescue operation. Divers and Fire Service were jointly working to rescue the missing people, said Din Moni.
