Five `militants` held in Gazipur

Police in a drive detained five suspected militants with five petrol bombs from a forest in Gazipur district on Tuesday night.
The detained persons are: Tanvirul Haque Sajal, 23, Harun Miah, 37, Hossain, 29, Jongu Miah, 32, and Deen Islam, 35.
The law enforcers also recovered six crude bombs, five petrol bombs, two knives, one mechette and a huge number of jihadi books from their possessions, police said.
Gazipur Police Superintendent Harun Ur Rashid said, “Acting on a
tip-off that a group of militants were holding a secret meeting in a forest in Banogram, a special task force raided the area at about 11:15pm and arrested them.”
Meanwhile, some sharp weapons were also recovered from their possession.
He said, “The detainees were engaged with BNP-Jamaat politics. They joined the militant group after a change in the government.”
Sajal is an electronic engineer and he was teaching others how to make bombs, the SP said.
Two cases have been filed with Joydevpur Police Station in this connection on Wednesday.
