BSS, Dhaka:
Five persons were killed and three others injured in a road accident in Balkchar area on the Bogura-Rangpur Highway under Gobindaganj upazila of the district this morning.
Police and local sources said the accident took place when a passenger bus of ‘Hanif Paribahan’ coming from Dhaka rammed an auto-rickshaw in the area, leaving three passengers of the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot and five others injured seriously.
Being informed, fire service and civil defense station in Gobindaganj rushed to the spot and rescued them in cooperation with the locals and sent to Gobindaganj Upazila Health Complex, where two succumbed to their injuries.
The identities of the victims could not be known immediately but the bodies of the victims were kept on Gobindaganj Thana premises, said station in-charge Arif Anwar of the Gobindaganj Fire Service.
The driver and the helper of the bus managed to flee the scene after the incident, he added.
