Five killed in road mishaps

Five persons, including three members of Bangladesh Coast Guard, were killed and several others injured in separate road accidents in Barguna and Mymensingh districts on Friday.
The injured persons were admitted to different hospitals and clinics near the accident spot.
In Barguna, three members of Bangladesh Coast Guard were killed when a bus hit their motorcycle at Amtoli Upazila on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Sadek, 30, from Nandail Upazila in Mymensingh district, Md Fuad Hossain, 23, from Kathalia Upazila in Jhalakathi district, and Md Anamul Haque, 38, from Ramgarh Upazila in Khagrachhari district.
All were posted at coast gourd base station at Durgapur in Patuakhali district, police said.
The bus of “Mayer Doa Paribahan” rammed into the motorcycle at Bandra  
around 12:00noon when they were going to Kuakata from Amtoli, said Md Shahidullah, Officer-in-Charge of Amtoli Police Station.
Two of the victims died on the spot and the 3rd one succumbed to his injuries at Kalapara Upazila Health Complex, the OC said. Their bodies were sent to Barguna General Hospital for autopsy, he added.
The driver of the bus managed to flee though the law enforcers seized the vehicle soon after the accident, police said.
In Mymensingh, two persons were killed when a bus struck an auto-rickshaw at Kalarampur of Nandail upazila on Friday.
Ataur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Nandail Police Station, said the accident took place around 7:00am, leaving auto-rickshaw driver Safir, 25, and its passenger Sakib, 26, dead on the spot.
