Five people were killed and another was injured by lightning strikes in Munshiganj and Jessore districts on Saturday noon and Friday night.
In Munshiganj, Aktar, 35, son of Hasan Ali and Jane Alam, 45, son of Jahir Uddin, both hailing from Raipura village of Gazaria upazila of the district, were hit by a lightning strike while fishing on Saturday noon, leaving them dead on the spot.
In Jessore, two people were killed and another was injured when a thunderbolt struck them amid rain at Daherpara village in sadar upazila on Friday night.
The deceased were identified as Rashed Hossain, 30, son of Hossain Ali, and Ayub Hossain, 45, son of Shamser Uddin of the village.
Abdur Rashid, medical officer of Jessore Medical College Hospital, said Rashed and Ayub died on the spot when Abdur Razzak, son of Aminur Rahman, was injured as a thunderbolt struck them while they were returning to home amid rain at night.
Besides, Bablur Rahman, a farmer and son of late Mohammad Ali of Jhapa village in Manirampur upazila was killed by lightning on way to his home on Friday night.
