Five people, including a woman, were killed and eight others injured when a microbus collided with a truck at Ulukandi on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Shayestaganj upazila on Thursday morning.
Three of the deceased were identified as Jarif Begum, wife of Mostakimul Haque, and Goutom, both residents of Aourabunia village in Kathalia upazila of Jhalkathi district and microbus driver Al Amin, a resident of Gorakanda village in Bhairab upazila of Kishoreganj district.
Officer-in-charge of Shayestaganj highway police station Zakir Hossain said the accident
occurred when a stone-laden truck heading towards Dhaka collided with the microbus coming from opposite direction around 7.00am, leaving the three microbus passengers dead on the spot and 10 others injured.
Two of the injured died on way to Habiganj Sadar Hospital. The other injured victims were admitted to the same hospital.
