Five people were killed in separate road accidents on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Dayapur in Chouara area of Sadar Dakkhin upazila and Comilla Cantonment area on Friday.
Four people were killed when a bus hit a pick-up van on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Dayapur in Chouara area of Sadar Dakkhin upazila on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Sumon Das, 32, a van driver of Moulvibazar district, helper Iqbal Hossain, 20, Mansur,
18 and Aynal Mia, 23 of Nabiganj in Habiganj district.
Police said, the accident took place around 7:30 am when a bus hit a pick-up van from behind, leaving its four passengers dead on the spot, said Mahbubur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Moinamoti Highway Police Station.
On information, police recovered the bodies and send those to sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.
In another incident, a pedestrian named Ajgar Ali, 20 was killed when a truck knocked down him at kitchen market area in Comilla Cantonment in the morning, said Mahbubur Rahman.
