Five journos assaulted by BAU BCL activists

Activists of Bangladesh Chaatra League (BCL) of Shaheed Nazmul Ahsan Hall unit of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU)on Thursday night beat up and threatened five residential students of the dormitory.
The victims have applied to BAU Journalists Association (BAUJA) to become journalist.
Victims are identified as first year students of agriculture faculty Mehedi Hasan, Zahid Hasan and second year student of Fisheries faculty Rakibul Hasan.
Chaatra League Activists Anik Ferdous of Fisheries Faculty and Tanvir Shakil of Agricultural Engineering and Technology beat up and threatened students with the help of Md Yeasin and Mashur Ahmed of Agricultural Engineering and Technology. All are second year residential students of Shaeed Nazmul Ahsan hall.
Earlier, third year Chaatra League Activists Rakibul Hasan Hridoy of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology, Md Monir, Rokunazzaman Riad, Abu Nayem of Agriculture faculty with the leading of Shaeed Hossain of Agriculture faculty called first year students in guest room asking them why they gave floral wreaths at Shaeed Minar in Amar Ekushey February programme with journalists.
BCL activists also threatened them not to join any other organization beside BCL and see further if they joined journalism or any other organization.
Mia Md Rubel, Secretary of BAU unit BCL, regretted the matter with sorrow and ordered the respective hall unit to solve the matter immediately.
The victims on Wednesday afternoon filed a written complaint against those BCL activists, with BAU proctor, seeking justice on the incident.
BAU proctor AKM Zakir Hossain said, necessary step will be taken after investigation.
About the incident BAUJA president Ashiful Islam Maruf said, every student has the right to choose a organization. He also asked the administration to execute exemplary punisment against the culprits.
Students allegedly said that first year students of the resident were tortured physically and mentally by senior BCL activists till late night and even they are beat up with the same batch students. The first year students are forced to prepare the assignments and practical note books for the senior BCL activists.
