A special team of Armed Police Battalion (APBn) arrested five passengers of a plane along with foreign currencies worth about Tk 86 lakh in the city’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) early Sunday.
The arrested persons were identified as Maksudur Rahman, 38, Rafiqul Islam, 40, Badal Khan, 40, Rajan Sikder, 40, and Sumon Sikder, 40, police sources said.
Assistant Police Super of APBn Asma Ara Jahan said that they conducted a drive around the boarding bridge area of HSIA following an information and arrested
five passengers with the currencies of different countries after searching their bags and bodies at around 5:00am.
Asma said that the passengers were trying to go Malaysia by a Malaysian Airlines.
She added that the arrested persons were handed over to the Biman Bandar Police Station.
