Police here on Monday arrested five people for allegedly gang raping a woman, from different areas of the district.
The arrestees are identified as Toriqul Islam, 25, son of Jamer Ali, Idris Ali, 20, son of Karim Box of Debnagar village of sadar upazila, Alamin, 22, son of Korban Ali, of Basghata village, Kabirchal Islam, 27, son of Abdur Razzak of Betla village and Sanjay, 25, son of Ranjan of Debnagar village.
According to case statement, Tariqul asked the victim, a vendor, to go to a brick kiln in Chaigharia area for giving back her money and then raped her along with his accomplices on Sunday evening.
Hearing the victim’s scream a petrol team of police rescued her and arrested one of the accused from the spot.
The victim filed a case with Sadar Police Station accusing 10 people, including the arrestees.
Police is trying to arrest the other accused.
