The government on Tuesday promoted five Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and 17 Additional Deputy Inspector General (additional DIG) to the rank of Additional Inspector General of Police (additional IGP) and DIG respectively.
The Home Ministry, in two separate orders, has given the promotion to these senior police officials upon a recommendation by the Superior Selection Board (SSB).
Those who were promoted to the rank of Additional IGP are – Acting Additional IGP of Telecom and Information Management Unit Md Iqbal Bahar, Director of the National Security Intelligence (NSI) Md Mesbah Ahmed, DIG Police Headquarters Rawsha Ara Begum, Commissioner of Barisal Metropolitan Police (BMP) Md Mosharaf Hossain and Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md Shahabuddin Quareshi.
Meanwhile, Acting DIG of the Special Branch (SB) Tawfiq Mahbub Chowdhury, Additional Commissioner (Current Change) of DMP Krishna Pada Ray, DIG (CC) of the Police Headquarters Md Bashir Ahmed, Acting DIG (Admin) of the Police Headquarters Md Habibur Rahman, Acting DIG Operations of the Police Headquarters Md Anwar Hossain, Acting Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) AKM Hafiz Akhter, Acting DIG of the Police Headquarters
Dr Khandkar Muhid Uddin and Additional Commissioner of the DMP Md Abdul Baten were confirmed as DIGs.
Besides, Director of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Md Moinul Islam, Additional DIG of the Chattagram Range SM Rokon Uddin, Additional DIG of the Rajshahi Range Masudur Rahman Bhuiyan, Additional DIG of the Telecom Md Nazrul Islam, Additional Commissioner of Chattagram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Kusum Dewan, Joint Commissioners (JC) of DMP Md Mofiz Uddin Ahmed and Md Imtiaz Ahmed, Additional DIG of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Md Mainul Hassan and Additional DIG of Dhaka Range Abu Kalam Siddique were promoted to the rank of DIG.
