Five Covid variants detected in BD

Five variants of Coronavirus have been detected in Bangladesh, said IEDCR.
Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) said it in a virtual press briefing on Sunday.
“We have detected 85 of South African, 27 British, 23 Indian, and five Nigerian variants so far in the country,” said Professor Dr. Tahmina Shirin, Director of the IEDCR during the briefing.
Professor Shirin said that about 263 sequencing have been conducted in the country so far while the above mentioned variants have been identified.
She said the B.1.6.7. mutation has been detected on those bodies who have visited India recently or contacted with any India returne person.
The Director, however, said, the variant does not matter.
“The main thing is to follow health safety measures properly and to be vaccinated in time,” Professor Tahmina said.
She said that everyone should follow the health safety rules strictly so that we can keep the country safe from the deadly disease.
“We can contain the pandemic being cautious and make others alert to fight against the fatal virus,” she said. The Director said that it is season of Mangoes. Many families rely on mango business. It is a perishable fruit also. So, it will be permitted to do the business, but we should be alert on health safety measures in every step of the mango businesses.
Mangoes should be sold from the garden following health safety rules.
It should be brought and sold in open space.
The purchase and sale should be conducted through online shopping, she advised.
