The 22 days ban for hilsa catching in the Bay expired on Sunday midnight .
After withdrawal of ban on fishing , about 4 lakh fishermen get ready to sail their fishing boats to the Bay after midnight of Sunday , Feringhee Bazar Fisherghat sources said.
The fishermen based in Chittagong boarding their fishing nets and other equipment in the boat from last night aimed at sailing in the morning. Fishermen sources said after sailing for about 2 hours in the bay, the fishermen will start throwing nets in the bay and are expected to return to fishery ghat after 3 or days.
President of Chitagong Coastal Fishermen cooperative Welfare Society Liton Das told that they have about 15000 enlisted fishermen from Feringhee bazaar to Sitakunda Syedpur coast and huge numbers of unregistered fishermen are also involved in fishing either in trawler, engine boat and manual fishing boats .
He estimated that about 4 lakh fishermen and their accomplices remain engaged in this profession.
