Md. Jahangir Hossain (38), a fisherman was taken away by a crocodile in front of his son while he was catching fish from Urubunia canal under Chandpai forest range in the Eastern Division of Sundarban forest on Thursday morning.
Md. Abul Kalam Azad , a relative of the victim on Thurday said that ill-fated Jahangir Hossain accompanied by his son Md. Zahidul and another fisherman procured permit from Chandpair forest range office and went to Ulubunia Canal where they were catching fish in the morning. At that time a crocodile appeared there silently and caught Jahangir and dived into the deep water. His son Md. Zahidul fled away from there a. Being informed of the matter Forest Department and his relatives searched the canal with boats. But no trace of him or his dead body was found till filing of this report.
Fisherman Zahidul is the son of one Abul Hossain of village Joymoni under Mongla Upazila in the district.
