A fisherman named Alamgir (44) died after being electrocuted on the way home from fishing at Kalapara upazila in Patuakhali district on Wednesday noon.
The deceased was son of Mannan Munshi and the accident took place at Khajura village of Latachapali union of the upazila at around 1pm on Wednesday.
According to the relatives of the deceased and local sources, Alamgir was returning home after placing fishing traps in the canal on Wednesday.
noon and on the way home a power supply wire torn and falling on him burnt his foot and hands.
Locals recovering him brought to Kuakata 20-bed hospital, but attending doctor declared him as dead.
Mahipur police station officer in charge (OC) Abul Khair said police had been sent to the spot. Further legal action will be taken if any complain would be lodged.
