Fisheries Department, FAO distribute fish feed in South Sunamganj

Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of United Nations in association with the Department of Fisheries (DoF) distributed 15 Metric tons of fish feed as an emergency support under the Global Environment Facility (GEF) funded project ‘Community based Climate Resilient Fisheries and Aquaculture Development in Bangladesh’, to the fish farmers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and floodsin South Sunamganj on Tuesday. The distribution was arranged by the office of the Upazila Fisheries Officer, South Sunamganj at the carp hatchery complex, Shantigonj, Sunamganj.
On this occasion, the discussion session was held with the Ms. Zebun Nahar Shamme UNO, South Sunamganj in chair while Shariful Alam, Upazila Fisheries Officer moderated it. It was also addressed, among others, by Ms. Dulon Rani Talukder and Mr. Nur Hossain, Upazila Vice Chairman, UpazilaParishad, Mr. Samir Sarker, Project Director, Department of Fisheries, Md. Ahsan Hasib Khan, Senior Assistant Director, Department of Fisheries, Sylhet Division, Md. Abul Kalam Azad, District Fisheries Officer, Sunamganj, Mr. Ashoke Kumar Das, Hatchery Officer, Shantigonj.
Md. Abul Hasanat, National Project Coordinator and Ms Umme Kulsum, Climate Change Expert, were a part of the distribution team to represent FAO on the occasion. Md. Najimuddin, the fishermen, expressed gratitude for supporting farmers to recover the damage of COVID 19 and flood damage, he also hope for the training on fish cultivation to cope with the adverce impact of climate change.
Later, Ms. Zebun Nahar Shamme UNO, South Sunamganj handed over the 100 kgs of fish feed among the listed fish farmers. Besides carrying cost of tk 1000 was also distributed among the fish farmers on the Occasion.
