Under the auspices of Bagerhat Distric Fishery Department the observance of National Fishery Week already has started in Bagerhat Town as well as it’s all the nine Upazilas with great enthusiasm on Saturday as elsewhere of the country. The slogan of the week is “Nirapad Mache Bharba Desh, Bangabandhur Bangladesh (Fill up the country of Bangabandhu’s Bangldesh with safe fish)”.
On the occasion of the first day an exchange of views was held in the auditorium of Bagerhat Press Club with Bagerhat based district correspondents of both print and electronic Medias with Dr. S M Rasel, Bagerhat District Fishery Officer in the chair. At first a keynote paper about the position of Bangladesh as fish producing country in the world was read out by the Fishery Officer of Bagerhat Sadar Upazila.
Dr.Md. Harun-ar-Rashid, Principal Scientific Officer of Bagerhat Lobsters (and shrimp) Research Centre spoke on the occasion as the chief guest. He told, Bangladesh is the highest producing county of hilsa, Royal fish of the country in the world while it is the 4th highest fish producing country of the world. He added, not only that but also Bangladesh fishery debarment was able to reproduced as many as 61 spices of almost ruined verities of local. He thanked the present Government for all those success.
Nihar Ranjan Saha and Al-haj Abdul Baki Talukdar who are the President and the General Secretary of Bagerhat Press Club respectively spoke on the occasion as the special guests. Journalists Shaikh Ahsanul Karim, Md. Yanin Ali, Molla Masdul Haq, Shaikh Azmal Hossain, Md. Ariful Islam, Molla Abdur Rob, Nakib Sirajul Haq and Khondokar Akmal Uddin Raki. They discussed about a number problems faced by the local genuine fishermen, fish farmers, produces and others related with fish cultivations of the district.
 Dr. S M Rasel, President of the meeting of the exchange of views and the District Fishery Officer of Bagerhat while delivering his presidential speech he thanked the journalists who participated in the meeting and assured them that he would try to solve all the local problems discussed in the meeting by them.
Staff Reporter from Rangpur says: Fisheries experts at a press conference in Rangpur on Saturday said that fish production has increased by 50.92 percent in the last ten years in Bangladesh ensuring self-sufficiency in fish resources.
 The Department of Fisheries with assistance of the District Administration organized the event at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Room to launch the National Fisheries Week- 2022 in the district.
The National Fisheries Week -2022 programmes include, rallies, releasing fish fries, discussions, seminars, prize distribution and screening of documentary films, awareness building and motivational activities to further develop the fisheries sector.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan attended the event as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Golam Rabbani in the chair.
Assistant Director of the Department of Fisheries at District Fisheries Office Sunny Khan Majlish, Manager of Fisheries Farm at Burirhat in Rangpur Abu Md. Asaduzzaman and Sadar Upazila Fisheries Officer Minara Hafiza Ferdous were present.
 District Fisheries Officer Md. Badruzzaman Manik discussed the tremendous success achieved by Bangladesh following various pragmatic steps taken by the government in enhancing fish production consistently in the last 13 years.
 The annual fish production stood at 46.21 lakh tonnes during the 2020-2021 FY in the country, 50.92 percent higher against the production of 30.62 lakh tonnes 10 years ago during the 2010-2011 FY.
 “The annual fish production stood at 62,069 tonnes last year in Rangpur against the annual demand of 63,096 tonnes,” he said, adding that only 17,685 tonnes of fish was produced in the district 10 years ago during the 2010-2011 FY.
There are 42,339 ponds and dighees with 8,450 hectares of land area, 97 borrow pits with 53 hectares of land, six rivers and vast floodplains with 22,025 hectares of land area in Rangpur district.
Besides, 21 fisheries hatcheries and 812 fisheries nurseries are now under operation in the district where four fish feed factories are producing fish feeds.
Staff Reporter from Mymensingh reports : A press conference on the occasion of National Fisheries Week was held on Saturday at Upazila fisheries office in Muktagacha. Md. Tariqul Islam, Senior Fisheries Officer of the upazila, highlighted various issues related to fisheries at the national and local levels. He said that Bangladesh has achieved self-sufficiency in fisheries resources since several years ago.
A lot of foreign currency is being earned by exporting the country’s fish abroad.
The scientific method of Muktagacha upazila is regular fishing in more than 16 thousand ponds. The fish produced here meets the local demand and more than 35 thousand metric tons of fish are sold in different districts of the country. It was informed in the press conference that National Fisheries Week will be observed across the country from Sunday 24th July till 29th July.
Among others at the press conference Muktagacha Press Club General Secretary M Idris Ali, journalist Kafi Khan, M Yusuf, Mofazzal Hossain, Hazrat Ali, Ripon Sarwar, Tajul Islam, Kamrul Huda Bablu, Mamun Al Gayoom and others were present.

 These programs were organized by the Upazila Administration and the Upazila Fisheries Officer’s Office on Sunday keeping in mind the theme of “Nirapod Mase Bharbo Desh – Bangabandhur Bangladesh”.
Under the chairmanship of Upazila Assistant Commissioner Bhumi Laila Jannatul Ferdous and Prof Dr. Md. Abdul Aziz MP. Special guests were Upazila Parishad Chairman Principal Moniruzzaman Moni, Vice Chairman Anwar Hossain Khan, Agriculture Officer Lutfunnahar Luna, Fisheries Officer Mashgul Azad, Social Service Officer AKM Moniruzzaman, Magura Vinod UP Chairman Mehdi Hasan Magnet, heroic freedom fighter SM Abdur Razzak and various categories professional men.
BSS from Noakhali adds: The “National Fisheries Week-2022” began in the district Saturday as part of countrywide programme aiming to make the people of the country more aware and involved in increasing safe fish production.
The week is being celebrated with the theme of “Nirapad Mache Bharabo Desh, Bangabandhur Bangladesh” from today to till July 29. On the occasion, a press conference and view-exchange meeting with journalists was held at the District Fisheries Officer’s office in the district this morning.
District Fisheries Officer Mohammad Iqbal Hossain said a comprehensive
programme including rallies, release of fish fries, fish market monitoring,
soil and water testing of fish ponds, training of beneficiaries, campaign
against illegal nets, distribution of materials and interaction with fish
farmers and fishermen at the marginal level and operating motivational
activities to further develop of the fisheries sector has been taken to mark the occasion.
He mentioned that Bangabandhu released first fish fries into the lake of
Ganabhaban in 1973 to encourage the countrymen in raising fish production.
“We are working to fulfill Bangabandhu’s dream,” the district fisheries
officer said.
Sadar Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Manas Mandal, journalists of
electronic, print and online media working in the district were, among
others, present on the occasion.
