Fish price continues to rise in the city’s kitchen market due to short supply form marshy lands.
Price of almost all fish has increased by about Tk30 to 60 per kg. People of middle and fixed income groups are facing hardship to buy fish from their monthly budgets.
On Friday the barbal and the scorpion fish were selling at Tk 700 to Tk 800 per kilo each, ruhit at Tk 280 to 450, carp at Tk 230 to Tk 400, shrimp and lobster at Tk 500 to Tk 700, pangas at Tk 170-200, tilapia at Tk 180 to Tk 230, mola for Tk 250, climbing fish at Tk 250 to 600, lata at Tk 200 to Tk 300, tatkini at Tk 230 to Tk 250, sheat fish at Tk 300 to Tk 500, small fry fish for Tk 250 and butter fish at Tk 660 to Tk 700. Sea fishes Meracel at Tk250 to 270, Surma fish at Tk280 to 340 and Hilsh medium size was selling at Tk600 to 800. Besides, the different dry fishes price have also increased by about Tk 20 to 50 per kg.
The boiler was selling at Tk 160 to 170 and the local fowl at Tk 400 to 550 per kg, showing upward trend. But beef and red meat price remained unchanged selling at Tk 290 to Tk 300 per kg and at Tk 400-450 respectively.
Of vegetables, the balsam apple was selling at Tk80 to 100, the newly harvest potato was selling at Tk eight to 12 per kg, green chilli at Tk50 to 60, bean at Tk 25 to 30, brinjal at Tk 40 to 60, snake gourd at Tk 50, bitter gourd at Tk 60 to 80, french at Tk 50, cucumber at Tk 25 to 30, tomato at Tk20, green tomato at Tk18, carrot at Tk20 to 25, radish at Tk 12, turnip at Tk15, pea at 40 to 50, cauliflower at Tk 20 to 30 per piece, cabbage at Tk 20 per piece, teasel gourd at Tk 60, zucchini at Tk 50 to 60, gourd at Tk40 to 60 based on size, coriander leaves at Tk 100 per kg.
As for rice price Minicate was selling at Tk 50 to 56, nazirshail at Tk 53 to 62, the Lata at Tk 40-44, BR-28 at Tk 45 to 47 per kg, coarse variety at Tk 40-42 and aromatic rice at Tk95 to 120 per kg, Swarna at Tk 35-37 per kg, traders said. Traders in the city gave the credit to the millers for not coming down the rice price and refused to take the blame.
Onion and ginger price has decreased slightly. The local onion was selling at Tk24 to 26 and imported one at Tk22 to 24. The Chinese garlic was selling at Tk 80 and the local product at Tk 70. Ginger (local) was selling at Tk 120 and the imported one at Tk 150 only.
The price of different varieties of red lentil also rose by Tk four per kg and it was selling between Tk 80 and Tk 135. The price of bottled soybean oil (five litres) remained unchanged and it was selling at Tk 570-Tk 585 in the city’s kitchen markets. The unpacked soybean oil was retailing at Tk 114-118 per kg.
