Fish, meat and rice price on rise

The price of fish, meat and rice is rising upward while that of vegetables and other essential has remained stable in the city’s kitchen markets at the week and on Thursday.
The price of sweet water fish like Shing, Magur, koi, Sheat, tengra, lata and shail has increased by Tk 50 to 80 per kg in recent days.
Shing and magur were selling at Tk 800 to 1000 per kg, koi at Tk 600, sheat at Tk 600 to 700, tengra at Tk 450 to 600, lata at Tk 250, shail at Tk 600, pabda at 400 to 500 and Golsha at Tk 450-600.
Of other fishes, butter fish was selling at Tk 300 to 350, lobster at Tk 450 to 600 shrimp (River) at Tk 350 to 400, puti at Tk 200 to 300 per kg, cultivated koi at Tk 150 to 180 per kg, Fali Chanda (Rupchanda) at Tk 900 to 1100 per kg, eel at Tk 450 to 550 per kg, batashi at Tk 400 to 500, koi (river) at Tk 600, Aire fish at Tk 500 to 700, baila at Tk 450 to 600 per kg, coral fish at Tk 450 to 600 per kg, river Pangas at Tk 350 per kg, cultivated pangas at Tk 140 per kg, rajputi at Tk 250 per kg and telapia at Tk 150 to Tk 200 per kg.
The white broiler chicken was selling at Tk 130 to Tk 135 per kg. Mother chicken was selling at Tk 160 to 170 per kg, while the sonali cock (Pakistani origin) at Tk 180 to 220 per piece. Local (deshi) chicken weighing 800 gms to 900 gm was selling at Tk 350 to 400 per piece.
Beef was selling at Tk 480 to Tk 520 per kg and red meat (goat) at Tk 750 to 800 per kg.
A one litre container of soya bean oil was selling at Tk 105-108, while a five-litre container at Tk 505-525 in the city’s kitchen markets.
Unpacked soya bean oil was selling at Tk 98 a kg, while palm oil was selling at Tk 85 a kg.
Fine quality of packet salt was selling at Tk 40 a kg, while the refined one at Tk 28 a kg in the city markets.
Of rice, superior quality of Nazirshail was selling at Tk 65 to 70 per kg, Miniete at Tk 62 to 68 per kg, medium quality of Bridhan-28 and Lata rice were selling at Tk 55-58 per kg. Different kinds of coarse rice like Swarna were selling at Tk 55 and similarly the hybrid quality at Tk 50 to Tk 56 to 58 per kg.
The price of red lentil remained unchanged over the week. The local variety of red lentil was selling at Tk 90-100 per kg, while the coarse variety of imported red lentil was selling at Tk 80-90 a kg over the week.
The local variety of onion was selling between Tk 30 and 35 per kg, imported Indian variety at Tk 32 to 35. The garlic was selling at Tk 50 to 900 per kg and ginger at Tk 70 to 90 per kg.
The reporter observed during visiting at Muhammadpur, Karwan Bazar, Malibag, Shantinagar and Hatirpool bazaars that green chilli was selling at Tk 70 to 80 per kg, bean at Tk 40 to 50, brinjal at Tk 35 to 50, potato at Tk 15 to 25, okra at Tk 50 to 60, parble at Tk 50, arum at Tk 30 to 40, snake gourd at Tk 40 to 50, french beans at Tk 55 to 60, balsam apple at Tk 65, teasel gourd at Tk 60, carrot at Tk 25 to 30, bitter gourd at Tk 50 to 60, cucumber at Tk 30 to 35, green papaya at Tk 20 to 25, pumpkin (medium size) at Tk 50 to 90 per piece, bottle gourd at Tk 30 to 50, ash gourd at Tk 25 to 30 per piece, coriander leaves at Tk300 per kg, capsicum (red) at Tk 350 per kg and capsicum (green) at Tk 250 to 280 per kg. Lemon was selling at Tk 10 to Tk15 per piece.
