Bangladesh scored 76 for the loss of six wickets at the lunch on the first day of the first Test against West Indies at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua on Thursday.
Sent into bat first, Bangladesh had an unhappy start as opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy (0) was caught at the slip by Nikrumah Bonner off Kemar Roach when Bangladesh’s score was just one.
After Joy’s dismissal, Najmul Hossain Shanto (0) was bowled out by Kemar Roach when the tourists’ total was three for the loss of two wickets.
After Shanto’s removal, Mominul Haque (0) was caught at the second slip by Jermaine Blackwood off Jayden Seales when Bangladesh’s score was 16 for the loss of three wickets.
After Mominul’s departure, Tamim Iqbal was caught behind by wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva off Alzarri Joseph when the visitors’ total was 41 for the loss of four wickets. Tamim made 29 from 43 balls featuring four fours.
Third-down Litton Das (12) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Jashua Da Siva off Kyle Mayers when Bangladesh’s score was 41 for the loss of five wickets.
After Litton’s departure, wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan (0) was trapped leg before wicket by Kyle Mayers when the touring side’s total was 45 for the loss of six wickets.
Shakib Al Hasan remained unbeaten with 27 runs, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz remained unbeaten with two runs.
Kyle Mayers and Kemar Roach bagged two wickets each instead of 10 and 21 runs respectively, while Alzarri Joseph and Jayden Seales took one wicket each for 15 and 24 runs respectively.
