A three-day-long international SME (small medium enterprise) Fair has kicked of today at the port city’s world trade center for the first time with an aim to expand the small and medium industry.
Industries minister Amir Hossain Amu will inaugurate the prestigious fair today around 11.00 am where parliament member M A Latif will be present as the chief guest, said Chittagong Chamber president MahbubulAlam in a press conference held on Thursday at Bangabandhu conference room, World trade center.
MahbubulAlam said, the developed world including China, Korea and Japan highly focused on the small sector and with the development of the small-medium sector they acquired the sustainable development.
To expand the small and medium industries and to make the enterprise aware of the comparison between the home and abroad products, we arranging such a program, he added.
A total of 58 stalls booked their name in two zones where 24 registered in prime zones and 34 in general zones. Besides, several leading banks opened their stalls in the SME fair to attract the small entrepreneurs and to aware them how to get easy loans from the banks.
Leather product varieties, handmade products, automobiles, plastic, lite engineering, cable and wire, steel, boutiques, jewelry, garments products among others would be showcase in the fair.
Among others, chamber vice-president Sayed Jamal Ahmed, convener of the SME committee Mahfuzul Huq Saha was also present in the press conference.
