The director of the movie Putulnacher Itikotha, based on the influential novel of the same title by Manik Bandopadhay, revealed the first look of Jaya Ahsan, Abir Chatterjee, Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Ananya Chatterjee. Jaya will be playing the role of Kusum while Parambrata and Abir will be playing the roles of Shoshi and Kumud
respectively. The movie will be directed by Kolkata’s filmmaker Suman Mukhopadhyay. Sharing the shooting pictures of the movie on Facebook, Suman wrote, “My eighth feature film Putulnacher Itikotha started. Based on Manik Bandyopadhyay’s influential novel. Thanks to all who made it possible.” The shooting of the movie
started on February 12. Jaya started
the shooting on February 14. The film depicts the hypocrisy and complication of human life. The narrative is set in a secluded town in Bengal soon before WWII and it follows a doctor’s dilemma as a forlorn hero in search of intellectual romance. Director Suman said, “Two things were very important for this movie. That is skilled actors and a big budget. Besides selecting good actors, the marketing aspect of the film has to be kept in mind now. Abir, Jaya, Param will be able to do that balance. The shooting schedule of this movie is 25 days, which is not seen in Bengali films now. In this movie, I have tried to put emphasis on the chemistry of the characters and also the character Shoshi. I think Shoshi is a very powerful character.”
The story of the movie revolves around the main character, doctor Shoshi who is very empathetic towards the lower class of people in society. The film centres on the complexities of human relationships.
The movie will be set in the backdrop of the 1930s and 1940s. Two other important characters in the movie will be played by Dhritiman Chatterjee and Ananya Chatterjee. Prabuddha Banerjee will be doing the background music. Under the banner of Kaleidoscope, Samiran Das will produce the film. Pawan Kanoda is the co-producer of the movie.
