First ever BD and Ethiopia foreign office consultations held

Bangladesh and Ethiopia agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation on regional and global issues of mutual interest as the two nations held first-ever Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) here on Wednesday. Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque and Ethiopian Foreign Secretary Ambassador Mahlet Hailu Guadye led the delegations on behalf of their respective countries, said a press release.
The talks covered the entire gamut of bilateral issues, including political relations and enhanced cooperation especially in the fields of trade and investment, education, culture, agriculture, textiles, pharmaceuticals and peace-keeping under the UN. Sharing the country’s economic and social sector success under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Bangladesh delegation informed the Ethiopian side about various provisions and privileges of foreign investment in Bangladesh.
The Ethiopian Foreign Secretary applauded the remarkable socio-economic growth which Bangladesh has achieved in the recent years. Both sides agreed to work in the bilateral, regional and international fora, particularly in the peace keeping area.
