Abu Sazzad :The country’s first Economic Zone is going to be established under Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative at Mogla Upazila of Bagerhat district. Power Pac Holding Ltd, a sister concern of Sikder Group, got the work order of the work ‘Mongla Economic Zone’ work.Chief Secretary of Prime Minister’s Office Md Abul Kalam Azad handed over the work order to the Managing Director of Power Pac Holding Ltd Ron Haque Sikder at a city hotel on Thursday. “In order to attract private investment for infrastructure development, we will encourage implementation of project through Public Private Partnership (PPP)”, said the Chief Secretary.About one hundred economic zones would be established across the country within one year through Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), said Abul Kalam Azad.The government would provide all kinds of assistance, including electricity, and other logistic supports. He suggested the company to invest for the development of Economic Zone. The government plans to establish high-tech park in every districts soon.Project Director Harun-Ur- Rashid said that about 100 economic zones, would be established by 2030 through which one crore employment opportunities will be created. He hoped that $ 40 billion export goods will be produced in this economic zone. The government plans to provide special incentives for investment in the Economic Zone.Secretary of Prime Minister’s Office Suraiya Begum and BEZA Chairman Paban Chowdhury, were also present.
