The Marcel First Division Chess League will begin on December 30 at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room.
Bangladesh Chess Federation will organize the chess competition under auspices of Walton Group.
In this regard, a press conference was held at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room on Tuesday. Vice-President of Bangladesh Chess Federation KM Shahidullah, General Secretary of the Federation Syed Shahab Uddin Shameem, Operative Director (Head of Sports & Welfare Department) of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn was present at the conference.
A total of 12 teams will compete in the upcoming chess competition. They are: Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited, Bangladesh Navy Junior Chess team, Hasan Memorial Chess Club, Bashir Memorial Chess Club, Agrani Bank Limited Chess team, Mir Chess Club, Mohakhali Pradeep Sangha, Debdas Biswas Smiriti Sangsad, Kasparov Chess Club, Sonargaon Chess Club, Isfot Arena and Janata Bank Officers’ Welfare Society.
The nine-day long chess competition will come to an end on January 7.
The champions team will be awarded Taka fifty thousand as prize-money, the runners-up team will get Taka thirty thousand and the third-place finisher team will be given Taka twenty thousand.
Besides, the winners will get trophies, medals and home appliances of Walton respectively.
