First death anniv of Sir Fazle Hasan Abed today

Brac is set to commemorate the first death anniversary of founder Sir Fazle Hasan Abed on Sunday.
Sir Fazle Hasan Abed died while undergoing treatment for a brain tumour at a hospital in Dhaka on December 20, 2019. He was 83 years old.
There will be np elaborate events to commemorate the Brac founder’s first death anniversary due to the Covid-19 pandemic, according to a press release.

Brac and Brac University have organized online discussions to pay respect to the vision and values Sir Fazle held in his life. All members of Brac staff pledged to work for equality and to stand beside poor and marginalized communities to honour him.
Sir Fazle established BRAC in 1972 as a small relief and rehabilitation effort in a remote area of Sylhet division. The organisation transformed itself to one of the largest and most effective NGOs in the world by conducting successful socio-economic programs in many sectors over the last 47 years.
Brac now provides multifaceted services to over 100 million people in 12 countries of Asia and Africa, assisting them in bringing lasting changes to their lives.
