Weekend Plus Desk :
In Bangladesh, the ‘Mendeleev Lab’ (Chemical Laboratory) campaign was held at the Russian Center for Science and Culture (RCSC) in the capital’s Dhanmondi area on November 15.
This event, organised by the RCSC, was attended by pupils from the school of the Russian Embassy in Bangladesh and schoolchildren of local educational institutions.
The ‘laboratory’ was held as part of the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements, announced by the UN General Assembly. The table became a graphic expression of the Periodic Law, formulated by the Russian scientist Dmitry Mendeleev in 1869.
Participants were able to verify the correctness of their ideas about how the surrounding world works. At the end of the event, everyone was awarded a personal certificate.
The RCSC in Dhaka will continue to support projects related to the popularization of science and technology and providing a basis for understanding how, where and why the space in which we live is changing so quickly.
