Zidan Miah emerged as the first Bangladesh origin footballer to join a La Liga club. The 21-year-old has reportedly signed Rayo Vallecano.
According to reports, the Bangladesh origin British footballer had to go through a two-month-long trial process to get selected for the newly promoted La Liga team.
“A huge thank you to everyone for 10,000 followers, your support means the world to me! I am getting a lot of questions and messages at the moment and all I can say is keep a look out on my social media platforms at 4PM Bangladesh time, 11AM UK time. Thank you everyone,” said Zidan Miah on his official Facebook page on Saturday.
Zidan Miah previously played for English Club Bromley FC U23 team. Zidan’s football began with David Beckham’s academy. His impressive performances landed him a scholarship with Michael Johnson’s Performance Centre and he subsequently moved to the US where he played for Columbus Crew U-14 and FC Dallas.
Zidan Miah in several interviews in Bangladesh media outlets had expressed his desire to represent the Red and Green jersey.
“It would certainly be an honour and a dream come true to have the opportunity to play for Bangladesh. My dream is for Bangladesh to qualify for the FIFA world cup and I think Jamie Day, Bangladesh’s head coach and his backroom staff, is working hard to get Bangladesh national team in the best possible position,” Zidan had said in an interview in July 2020.
