Legendary Nazrul singer of the Subcontinent Firoza Begum was remembered with tearful mood at a memorial meeting held at the main auditorium of the National Museum in the city’s Shahbagh area on Tuesday evening.
Gaan Bangla TV organised the memorial meeting to pay tribute to Firoza Begum.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor MP was present as chief guest in the programme, while it was presided over by Managing Director and Chief Executive of Gaan Bangla TV Kaushik Hossain Taposh. Acting Chairman of Gaan Bangla TV Farzana Munni gave welcome speech, while Mahmuda Akhter read out the life-sketch of Firoza Begum.
Family members of Firoza Begum Asaf-ud-Doula and Masih-ud-Doula, veteran journalist Kamal Lohani, noted musician Azad Rahman, Director General of Bangla Academy Shamsuzzaman Khan, corporate personality Rubaba Dowla Matin, noted Nazrul singers Sadya Afreen Mallick, Yasmin Mushtari, Khairul Anam Shakil, Sujit Mustafa, sons of Firoza Begum singers Hamin and Shafin Ahmed took part in discussion in the meeting.
Some rare footages on the legendary singer and clippings of Firoza Begum’s interviews were also screened in the programme.
