Jashore Correspondent :
A cat, which was trapped on an air conditioner on the second floor of Jashore General Hospital, was rescued by firefighters after nearly 19 hours on Monday .
Nazma Begum and her husband Zakir Hossain, who had been taking care of the feline for two years, thanked Jashore Fire Service and the firefighters.
They said they take their cat – fondly named ‘Maa’ – everywhere with them. They came to the hospital to visit one of their relatives on Saturday. The cat jumped through the window without anyone noticing and got stuck on the air conditioner.
The couple could not find the cat after frantic searches.
They returned to the hospital on Sunday morning looking for the cat and finally spotted it. Then they requested the fire service officials to rescue their pet. A team of firefighters later rescued the cat unharmed, said station officer Golam Kibria. Jakir said they had found the cat in a drain two years ago and brought it home. “We treat it like a family member,” he said.
