Aimed at raising awareness about fire incidents, Fire Service and Civil Defence held nighttime exercise in multistoried buildings in capital’s Uttara area on Friday night. Starting at 10 pm, the exercise ended at 11 pm in front of Uttara House Building, Muscat Plaza and North Tower.
“We organised the exercise to tackle the incidents more efficiently and quickly at nighttime in the city’s multistoried buildings. Our aim was also to raise awareness among other people regarding the fire accidents,” said Safikul Islam, senior station officer of Uttara Fire Station. “Around 40 firefighters from Uttara and Tongi areas have taken part in the exercise along with necessary machineries. Forty percent officers and firefighters have received training from abroad and Uttara Fire Station staff have already achieved remarkable success in tackling fire incidents,” Deputy Assistant Director of Uttara Fire Station Moniruzzaman told BSS.
