A fire that broke out in the south-east block of Parliament building has been quickly controlled. No casualties have been reported. The fire erupted on the third floor of the block around 8:30am on Wednesday, fire service official Shazadi Sultana said. Four fire fighting units rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control around 8:50am, she told bdnews24.com. Fire fighters are yet to confirm the cause of the fire. Ashraful Haque, Sergeant-at-Arms at the Parliament Secretariat, said the fire started in the room of the personal secretary of Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed. He suspects an electric short-circuit might have sparked it. There was no major damage as fire fighters managed to douse the flames quickly enough, Haque said.–bdnews24.com
