A fire has broken out in a shoe manufacturing factory named Fortune in BSCIC Industrial City in Barisal. The fire broke out on Saturday around 3:30 pm.
Deputy Assistant Director of Fire Service and Civil Defense Belal Uddin confirmed the matter to The New Nation.
He said, the firefighters and rescue workers rushed to the spot after receiving the information.
“Six units are working to douse the fire. The fire is not fully under control till filing the report last night. Hope it can be brought under control in a short time. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are subjected to the investigation,” he said.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Metropolitan Kaunia Police Station Abdur Rahman Mukul said that
police personnel have been deployed at the spot and no casualties have been reported so far.
Fire service is conducting rescue operations, he added.
It is noted that Fortune Shoes Limited has an international reputation for manufacturing sports shoes.
