Eight shops and three houses were gutted in a fire at Chaumohoni under Baghaichori upazila of the district last night.
Baghaichori upazila executive officer Md Abdul Alim said the fire originated from an electric short circuit of a shop and engulfed the adjacent area.
Being informed, BGB, Ansar, Police extinguished the fire after one hour of frantic efforts with the help of locals.
