At least six dwelling houses were gutted in a devastating incident of fire in Patenga Khalpar area under Patenga thana in the city on Sunday morning. Fire service sources said the fire originated from a cooking oven around 6.25am quickly engulfed the surrounding houses.
Seven units of fire service from Agrabad, Bandar, CEPZ stations rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control at about 7.45 am. Properties of six dwelling houses worth about Tk three lakh were gutted in the fire, the sources added.
