At least three salt factories were gutted in a fire that broke out at Majhirghat in Sadarghat area in the port city on Friday morning.
The fire originated at a salt factory caused by power disruption around 10:00am and soon engulfed adjacent factories.
On information, six units of fire fighters from Nandankanon and Agrabad Fire stations rushed to the spot and doused the fire around 12:00pm, said Jasim Uddin, deputy assistant director of Agrabad Fire Service.
He said fire damaged three salt factories and the estimated loss would be around Tk 20 lakh.
