Goods worth about Tk 15 crore were gutted in a fire that burnt 18 garment outlets at Jessore collectorate market were burnt early Saturday, said Ismail Hossain, Acting General Secretary, Jessore Collectorate Market Garment Owners’ Association.
Sanaullah, station officer, fire service and civil defense, Jessore told that being informed at around 1am on Saturday, firemen of Jessore, Jhikargachha and Monirampur doused the fire after hard labour of 1 hour and 45 minutes. ‘Reason of the fire could not be known immediately’, he added,’ six units of fire service took part operations.’
Ismail Hossain, Acting General Secretary, Jessore Collectorate Market Garment Owners’ Association told that being informed by night guards- Dilip and Atiar he rushed to the spot and saw that 18 outlets were burning. ‘Fire could be originated from electric short circuit at Chaity Garment’, he added.
