Capacity of fire service and civil defense members has been enhanced to a greater extent during the recent past years and hoped that the ability would be enhanced furthermore in the days to come. Some high officials of Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD) unanimously said the fire fighters have been playing a vital role towards mitigating various natural disasters.
They came up with the observations while addressing a ceremonial meeting at the divisional headquarters of FSCD in Rajshahi city Sunday, reports BSS.
Additional Secretary (Protection Service Division) to the Ministry of Home Dr Tarun Kanti Sikder addressed the meeting as chief guest.
Deputy Director of FSCD, Rajshahi Abdur Rashid, Assistant Director Jakir Hossain and Ware House Inspector Faruque Ahmed also spoke.
Dr Tarun Sikder urged the FSCD members to perform duties with utmost sincerity and honesty after the best uses of the knowledge acquired from various training for overall development of the nation.
Main motto of the fire service is speed, service and devotion and the job nature of the FSCD is different from many other jobs. This matter should be kept in mind always, he added.
He mentioned that performing duties with devotion is a moral obligation towards substantial reduction of both loss of life and properties, caused by any fire incident.
He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is very positive towards development of FSCD along with its modernization.
Dr Sikder recalled that the firefighters made supreme sacrifice at the time of serving people and the nation will remember their contribution forever.
The chief guest reviewed the smartly turned out parade and took salute at the impressive march past.
