A mysterious fire broke out in the city’s 16-storey Zaman Tower on Friday in the city’s Bijoynagar.
The Jatiya Oikyafront’s office is situated there.
The fire broke out on the 8th floor of the building around 2:40pm and the firefighter doused the flames around 5:00pm.
The Oikyafront office is on the third floor of the building and no casualties were reported, said Fire Service Control Room On-duty Officer Russell Sikder.
Fire Service Assistant Director Mamun Mahmud said, “The fire spread from the office of the National Credit Ratings Limited housed on the eighth floor of the building.”
The office of the Jatiya Oikyafront, an opposition alliance, is located on the fourth floor of the building.
The Oikyafront Media Wing Officer Laiful Bari Hamim said that the cause of fire incident might have occurred by a vasted quarter..
He said that unknown miscreants set fire on the building to create bar on Oikyafront’s smooth activities ahead of the 11th general polls to be held on tomorrow (Sunday).
The electricity, water and internet services have been cut apart from the conspiracy in the name of fire incident, he said.
