A fire erupted on the 2nd floor of Bangabazar market in the capital city around 9 am on Tuesday.
Firefighters, however, doused the fire within seven minutes.
Ataur Rahman, Duty Officer of Fire Service, told the media that the fire began on the 2nd floor of the market, built upon wooden infrastructure and west of Police Headquarters. On information, a total of 14 firefighting units rushed to the spot around 9:23am and extinguished the fire.
Brigadier General Ali Ahmad, Director General of Fire Service told the media that a specialized machine was used to locate the fire.
The fire might have begun from old electrical cables, added the DG.
